SO REC 2 -Between 1:500 and 1:5,000 Deficiency #4: Failure to screen the well vent. Technical Basis:Engineering Bulletin No.10 Chapter 3, G.2 WELL VENTS All wells shall be equipped with a vent which shall terminate at least 2 feet above the protective slab and shall be covered with a #16 mesh screen. Recommendation:Install a well vent 2 foot above grade, elbowed down, screened/covered with #16 mesh screen. 07-08-2021 08-09-2021
SO REC 4 -Between 1:10,000 and 1:15,000 Deficiency #2: Failure to post the State well number. Technical Basis:The State well number should be posted, consistent with State policy, to provide identification. Recommendation:Post the State well number (55-810254) on the entrance gate to the well. Posting the Public Water System number (10-810) is optional. 07-08-2021 07-15-2021
SO MIN 108 -Other Deficiency #6: Failure to install a check valve on the well discharge pipe. Technical Basis:Engineering Bulletin No.10 Chapter 3, G.1 SPECIAL VALVES AND APPURTENANCES An inverted check valve installed between the pump and main line check valve facilitates air being drawn into the line, which protects the column pipe from excessive pressures. Recommendation:Install an inverted check valve on the well discharge pipe. 07-08-2021 08-10-2021
SO REC 2 -2 Deficiency #4: Failure to screen the well vent.
SO REC 4 -4 Deficiency #2: Failure to post the State well number. Technical Basis:The State well number should be posted, consistent with State policy, to provide identification. Recommendation:Post the State well number (55-810254) on the entrance gate to the well. Posting the Public Water System number (10-810) is optional. 07-08-2021 07-15-2021
FW SIG Deficiency #9: Existing overflow pipe does not extend between 12 and 24 inches above the ground surface. Technical Basis:Engineering Bulletin No. 10, Chapter 6, E.6. OVERFLOW All water storage units shall have an overflow which extends down to an elevation between 12 and 24 inches above the ground surface and discharges freely. Recommendation:Extend the existing overflow pipe as required. The overflow shall open downward, screened with 16-mesh non-corrodible screen and extend away from the base of the tank. 07-08-2021 08-10-2021
FW MIN Deficiency #10: Water storage tank is not vented. Technical Basis:Engineering Bulletin No. 10, Chapter 6, E.9. VENTS Finished water storage units shall be vented. Recommendation:Install a storage tank vent to prevent the entrance of birds, animals and insects. Screen the vent with 16-mesh non-corrodible screen. 07-08-2021 08-10-2021
FW MIN Deficiency #8: Storage tank drain valve not installed. Technical Basis:Engineering Bulletin No. 10, Chapter 6, E.4. DRAINS All finished water storage units have to be taken out of service at periodic intervals for repair or maintenance. Provisions shall be made to permit drainage of the storage tank. Recommendation:Install a drain valve between the storage tank discharge piping and booster pumps. 07-08-2021 08-10-2021
SO REC Deficiency #5: Failure to install air release valve on well discharge pipe. Technical Basis:Engineering Bulletin No.10 Chapter 3, G.1 SPECIAL VALVES AND APPURTENANCES Special provisions must be made to protect the system if water can drain out of the column pipe when the pump stops. This will occur if there is no foot valve in the well. An air release valve shall be provided between the pump and the check valve, or if applicable, on the pressure tank to expel air drawn into the line when the water drains out. Recommendation:Install an air release valve on the discharge pipe between the pump and check valve. 07-08-2021 08-10-2021
SO REC Deficiency #1: Failure to maintain a clean well site. Technical Basis:Snakes, rodents and insects dwell in debris and excess vegetation. They can carry contaminants and diseases that could seep into a well during rain events. Recommendation:Remove excess vegetation from the well site to minimize attracting snakes, rodents and insects. 07-08-2021 07-15-2021
SO REC Deficiency #3: Existing silicone seal on top of well casing is deteriorating. Technical Basis:Engineering Bulletin No.10 Chapter 2, E.9 SANITARY WELL SEAL AND SLAB A sanitary well seal with an approved vent shall be installed at the top of the well casing to prevent contaminated water or other material from entering the well. Recommendation:Repair seal on top of well casing. 07-08-2021 07-15-2021
SO REC Deficiency #7: Failure to install a sampling tap on the well discharge pipe. Technical Basis:Engineering Bulletin No.10 Chapter 3, G.1 SPECIAL VALVES AND APPURTENANCES A hose bib type sampling tap shall be provided on the system side of the check valve to allow water samples to be taken. Recommendation:Install a sampling tap on the well discharge pipe. Installation of a non-threaded sampling tap is preferred. 07-08-2021 08-10-2021
