All wells shall be equipped with a vent which shall terminate at least 2 feet above the protective slab and shall be covered with a #16 mesh screen. Technical Basis: Engineering Bulletin No.10 Chapter 2, E.18 FENCING.If the well head is not enclosed by a building, security fencing at least 6 feet high shall be constructed. Other approved means of preventing potential contamination may be approved by the department. They can carry contaminants and diseases that could seep into a well during rain events. SO REC Deficiency: Minor water leak on well discharge pipe above sanitary well seal. Technical Basis: Engineering Bulletin No.10 Chapter 2, E.9 SANITARY WELL SEAL AND SLAB. A sanitary well seal with an approved vent shall be installed at the top of the well casing to prevent contaminated water or other material from entering the well. Recommendation: Repair the minor leak to prevent contaminants from entering the well. 07-29-2020
